Our story began in 2003 when I met Kyla at a mall in Washington State. Neither of us knew that day would be the beginning of a lifetime together. We were young, in love, and living on beautiful Whidbey Island. We spent countless hours walking along the beaches, listening to the waves, exploring the island, hiking through the mountains, and dreaming about our future. We didn't have much, but we had each other, and somehow that made us feel like we had everything. Before children, we were adventurous and free. We took long cross-country road trips, explored new places, and even slept in our car up in the mountains. We didn't need fancy hotels or expensive things. Just an open road, a beautiful view, and each other. Our first two girls weren't children. They were our two beautiful black Labrador retrievers. They were part of our little family before we ever became parents. They've since passed away, but their memories will always be part of our story. For five years, we dreamed of having children. We prayed to God, hoping He would bless us with a family. We didn't know what His plans were, but we kept believing. Today, we have seven beautiful children, more blessings than we ever could have imagined. Our lives changed from quiet walks along the ocean to a house full of children, laughter, noise, sleepless nights, and unforgettable memories. We've watched our children grow, celebrated one going off to college, and even experienced the incredible joy of becoming grandparents to our grandson, Dean. Our journey hasn't always been easy. We've faced frightening moments, especially when our daughter Gracelyn struggled as a baby. We've experienced hardships, uncertainty, financial pressures, heartache, and challenges that tested our strength. There were even moments in our marriage when we nearly gave up on each other, when divorce seemed like it might be the end of our story. But somehow, through faith, forgiveness, determination, and the love we built together, we found our way back to one another. We fought for our marriage, for our children, and for the life we promised to share. Over the years, we've packed up our lives and moved several times, traveling across the United States and back home again, searching for the place where we truly belonged. From the beaches of Washington to Wisconsin and back across the country, we've followed opportunities, chased dreams, started over, and built new chapters together. And through every move, every new house, every unfamiliar town, and every winding road, I've learned something important: **Home was never a place on a map. Home was always wherever Kyla was.** We've grown older together. We've changed, made mistakes, learned lessons, raised a family, and experienced more life than those two young people walking the beaches of Whidbey Island could ever have imagined. But when I look at Kyla today, I still see the beautiful young woman I fell in love with all those years ago. As we approac
